Many thanks to the wonderful Sudbury community for all of the support that you have shown us over the past few weeks. You’ve provided financial donations and organized community wide food drives aiming to keep our shelves full. Additional gratitude and appreciation is noted for those willing to donate their time to actively volunteer at our organization during this “health crisis”. It takes our village to serve, for example, 103 clients just this past week. And it took quite a few teachers donating their time to keep us operating. We’re in this fight together to help each other and to try to do so safely and respectfully.
The Sudbury Food Pantry and Our Lady of Fatima are working together creatively and collaboratively to serve our most vulnerable neighbors. Understanding that the evolving health crisis requires continuing reassessment, the Sudbury Food Pantry WILL BE open on Tuesday during usual hours of operation. BUT operational procedures for clients and volunteers will be changed. At this same time, it is imperative that we provide a safe and sanitized environment given the current health crisis. No determination beyond Tuesday can been made at this time. All is subject to continuing reassessment.
The SCFP expresses gratitude to our wonderful community for their thoughtful donations during the month of September, specifically: Kits for Kids (a Marlborough based nonprofit) for their Valentine’s themed gift bags for our clients’ children, the Sudbury Garden Club for delivering pots of flowers for each of our clients on Feb 13th, the Women’s Group from Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints for many lovely personal hygiene products, and the wonderful staff and parents of Sudbury’s Leap School for their annual food drive sponsored on our behalf.
Upon the heels of September’s being Hunger Awareness month, both Sudbury synagogues, Congregation Beth El and Congregation B’nai Torah, sponsored their annual food drives on October 9th. The Sudbury Community Food Pantry, being one of four nonprofit organizations to whom each of the synagogues donated food, gratefully received over 100 bags of groceries and personal care products – mostly focusing on items which are particularly popular and harder to obtain. Thank you to all who participated.
The Food Pantry will be closed Tuesday June 25, 2019 and Thursday June 27, 2019 as well as Thursday July 4th, 2019.
